JD Model PW Disk Harrow

Does anyone know where I can get parts for a JD Model PW Disk Harrow? I need a Bearing Housing, p/n C374-A. I'm hoping to find someone who has the part or someone parting out their machine. The bearing itself is available from Deere; the bearing housing is obsolete and not available from Deere.
 
I sent you a reply to your add. I had a PW years ago that needed a retainer and Deere could not get a new one, I never found a used one. I did some kind of engineering and got one off the AW to work, of course it did not look right. PW looks like an AW, and if I remember the rear gangs swivel, and have the chains, but the gangs are non-adjustable, and the entire disc is very heavily built. Very good cutting in hard ground. I have also owned an FWA, which is another oddball, and have one or two AW's junked now.
 
Thanks. I saw your earlier post and have thought about what you might have done to make KK5920 work in place of C374-A on the PW. The parts are similar in the interior and very different on the exterior as far as mounting. The KK5920 is available from Deere and C374-A is not. How did the KK5920 fasten to the AW? If I understood that I might understand what you did on your PW to make it work. I appreciate your help.
 
An AW fastens with one long bolt all the way through and then one short one at bottom front I believe. I have several for the big axles, but you would need one for the 1 1/8 I think. You might have to weld a short bracket on, but I just forget what I did. Been 12 or more years. Not many PW's around.
 
You know, I was thinking, bushog brand and tuffline used retainers that hung in brackets like the PW. Might be worth checking into.
 
I am not familuar with those disks. Did not even know a PW was made. I went to the John Deere online parts lookup site to see what it was or if that model even existed. But you should be able to go there and compair the parts page fron the PW with the AW to see if you can modify one to work. My Deere disk was a KBA There is a way to find out if that part number was used on more than just the one model and if it was you might be able to compair mountings to see what you can make work.
 
Thanks Leroy. Glad to hear from you. Yes that is one of the paths I?m looking at now. Not as good as finding the right part but I may not have that option.
 
Thanks Elton. I?ll give that a look. On the PW the bearing housing hangs from a yoke, you are correct. When you fixed your PW, do you think you modified that existing yoke or did you remove it and replace it with a completely different hanger/yoke?
 

Elton- supposing I was able to figure out a way to mount a bearing housing from an AW.....Do you still have the AW?s you scrapped? In your earlier post you said ?have one or two AW's junked now?. If so, would you sell me a hsg off of one of them?
 
I have several bearings and housings for the 13 ft. and up models. They are made for an 1 1/4 axle. I believe they actually contain 2 bearings and are wider than the smaller. I believe your axle will be 1 1/8. I suspect your disc will be an 8 ft. or so, but you can let me know. I did have some of the smaller ones but I built an 11 ft. last spring and used up everything I had.
 
I have a 12ft 9" spacing 20" blades. I have robbed the blades. It also has dual tires. And is adjustable. I am located in SE Illinois. Don't know the Letters. But the bearings would be free. If I was going to use my disk I would replace JD bearings and standards with IHC ones. Bearings for IHC are 1/4 or less.

You have some model other than a JD AW because they weren't offered with dual wheels(see photo) & IIRC there wasn't enough room for inside wheels to clear frame when wheels were raised in plowing position. You could have a model BW or BWA as they had dual wheels

Thanks everyone! As some of you know I had a classified ad in conjunction with this forum soliciting a bearing housing for a JD Model PW disk harrow. Several days ago I was fortunate to receive an email from someone who had one they were willing to sell. I really appreciate all the interest. Thanks again for taking the time to write and make suggestions.
