24t bale chamber repair

I got a John Deere 24t baler with a tractor I bought. The plunger is loose up and down at both ends of the stroke on the side closest to the pickup. I removed the plunger and have found the upper right (standing behind the baler) portion of the baler is worn badly. There is no wear plated or guides here, just the formed steel panel e14426 or e31720. Has anyone ever welded a strip in to fix this? Every baler I've found in the salvage yard is worn bad also. Is there a way to fix this?

"Back in the day" I made more bales with a 24T than I care to remember.

As I remember, there were replaceable "guides" on the load/thrust sides of the plunger.

I can't quite visualize what your issue is, but I'm wondering if it's bale chamber wear from a million or two bales, rather than physical wear from the plunger?

Top right is where the wear is.
Has a spot at the front and rear
of stroke that are worn about 3/16
of an inch, probably more. Parts
catalog shows no wear strip here.

It's been well over 40 yrs since I've seen a JD 24T baler in person BUT I wonder where key 1 fits on " upper RH" of bale chamber? E14452 is NLA from JD

"key 1" is in front of the throat of the chamber.

I've parted out a couple of 24T balers and should have the E31720 panel but would have to check condition. Where are you located? I'm in Wisconsin but could possibly ship it if you were interested.
