Case M series brush harrow

Please refer to my previous same post on page 2. I found the foundry in South Dakota that will make the bushings VR-2702. Approximately $75.00 per bushing and I need 8 of them. That is $600.00 plus shipping which would be a lot. I gave $300.00 for the bog harrow and another $300.00 for the disc cutters plus all new bolts and nuts when I rebuilt it. I had a couple of busted bushings which I welded up with nickel rod. You can see where I am going with this, pretty soon I'll have a million in it. I know that somewhere out there is an old warehouse with a bunch of these bushings stuck up on a shelf in the back. Just an update and thank you for those who tried to help. Ellis

I look at it like this . These old implements are built a lot better than the new stuff of this size 900$ might buy you a tin foil and bubblegum built disk that?s made to light and you still won?t have anything

What happened to getting a machine shop to make them for you? It would probably cost 1/3 as much.

Hey Ellis, Part #'s 2702 and 810-X look like two half-bushings that mate together to make one, with 810-X possibly having a Zerk fitting. Is this correct? I'm a working machinist and don't think that would be much of a job at all. Thing is if you need zero gap where they mate together, you'll have to turn sixteen of them in the round and then throw almost half of each one in the scrap bin. If a gap the width of a saw blade, say 1/32" or so wouldn't hurt, then you could get by just turning eight. Do you have a vocational or trade school within a reasonable distance from you? I'll bet they could help out on the cheap if they have any kind of machine shop training program.

You are correct about the two halves being the same except for a grease fitting. They do touch where they mate together....But....I could build them up
slightly with nickel and file them down to fit. The bearing is kind of a loose fit inside the bushings. Ellis

It doesn't look like it in the picture, but this thing weighs about 1400 lbs. according to my owners manual. I can buy one from TSC for $400.00 but not nearly the same piece of equipment! Ellis

Unless that saw cut would be enough to make a difference in the mounting of the bearing housing that saw cut would just make it fit that much better on a worn rest of part bearing.

It would take 3 tsc disks to make one of the disks you have and then you still wouldn?t have anything
