McCORMICK-DEERING THRESHER MACHINE VALUE?

Can anyone place a value on an antique McCormick thresher in working condition and always was stored in a barn? Last time it was used at an old engine club demonstration. My Grandpa had bought it new in the 1940's. I don't know of a price to place on it. I am in Michigan.

Are you close to any Amish? That can make a very big difference in value. And the group the Amish are from as well.

The "Amish" moved out of my area and are 90 miles away so they are out of the question. Thank you for your suggestion though.

I'm not sure of the cylinder size but I would say it is around 20 inches? Have to meaure it. It did the clover seed very well.

I guess I live in the wrong area around here you could buy a nice working combine cheaper and easier than a threshing machine of any shape

Heck no the Amish are not out of the question!! I
live in Ontario,Canada, and solving a old non
working wood thresher a few years ago, and it went
to Michigan, USA. Got enough out of it to buy my
wife a new clothes washing machine. Last summer I
watched a 400 MF pull type combine sell for
$1800.00 , and it went to Ohio!! If your thresher is in
ready to use working order, I would try to advertise it
in papers near the towns the Amish and Mennonite
folks llive. And I wouldn?t hesitate to ask any place
from $1,000.00 to $2,000.00. There are plenty of
equipment jockeys that hunt down old equipment for
the Amish and Mennonite community. And they will
buy good equipment and truck it to the final buyers.
Don?t send this thresher to scrap, and don?t let
people that try to convince you it has no value.
There is a customer out there with a straw hat and
chin whisker that is on the hunt for your thresher.

Like Bruce said there is a market just have to shop it around,I'd love to have one to thresh out Crimson Clover seed with what that stuff costs it'd pay for itself in a hurry.I use a lot of Crimson clover putting in deer plots.

I sold my McD 22x?? thresher in working condition with all the belts and the manual for about $350.00 a couple years back. And that was after I hauled to 3 different auctions. Amish up here are real picky and it didn't have a straw cutter, something they apparently put a lot of value on now.

They simply don't hold their value IME.

You might try putting on Craigs List or in one of the antique farm mags and set a price. You don't have to sell if you don't get your price. I was told by Amish neighbors mine should have gone for a grand $$ at least, but it seems the straw cutter is a big thing now.

My family bought the thresher new and always kept it housed. It works fine. It is not worthy of scrap metal. Someone out there should be interested.
