Stuck pto over run clutch

After putting this off, today I found out that the shaft going from the wood chipper to the tractor is too short which the chipper pto shaft needs the orc. Last month when woods mowing the pto button came out mostly (the spring was still in there and was dead) when I was getting ready to take off the mower (wasn't in there when I got off). The button parts or what ever must be in a field somewhere. Anyway after fighting to get the orc off the tractor (the pin didn't come out without help, I was left with the woods mover pto shaft stuck in the orc. I can get the pto shaft to move a little (half an inch, back and forth with the hammer and spud wrench) in the orc a little, but would there be a little piece in there so that the pto shaft wouldn't come out? I already waked it with a hammer and spud wrench. Heat I wouldn't be sure or did I kill it (I doubt that very much)?

Isn?t that little pin looking at us from the hole in the original pto lock indeed still the pto lock? The head came off, but isn?t the rod still part of the lock and you need to pull
it all out or maybe get it pushed in as it normally should when nothing is broken?

Take a small punch and push in on the end of what is left of the locking pin in the yoke. I bet it will allow you to slide the ORC rite out.

The pin was stuck a little, but the orc eventually came out with the sluge hammer. The orc still works. Thanks for the help.

Congrats! It looks like the tip you lost off the pin came out because only one of the three "indents" on the yoke have worn off. Tractor Supply has several of the kits to rebuild the pin. I would say that you need to peen the ears to keep the next tip from coming off again. Good Luck with it!

Ya it was fun taking it off, I started thinking, I think the pto shaft on the mower is too long with the orc, so when I lifted the arms up it pushed the shaft into the orc which in turn pushed the orc into the tractors pto and it killed both pins, one on the orc and on the mower (I have to plan on cutting to pto shaft). One of the splines on the orc mushroomed a little. With a little help from the grinder, I can now attach a pto shaft.
