Skid Steer Mower on a Front Loader Tractor

So, all the new tractors have skid steer quick disconnect buckets. Have any of you shade tree mechanics tried to put a skid steer rotary mower on a 4X4 tractor with a front loader? I understand the mowers need 15-17 GPM and the tractor I am looking at is 18 GPM. Just wondering if anybody had done it.......sure would be handy having the mower in front of you.

Not only do you need gpm but also PSI. PSI for skidsteers can go higher than tractors. What are the specs for the mower?

It would take a pretty good oil cooler to keep the temperature down when pulling that kind of power from the hydraulic system on a continuous basis. It is a very different kind of demand on the system compared to back-and-forth shots of oil such as when doing loader work. Whether it would work or not all depends on the specific tractor and the capacity of its cooler.

I have a 6 foot one for my 1845c skid steer and it works good, it the same width as the skid steer so you mow in front and not running anything down , unless you want to do just edge work.
mine needs around 18 gpm to work right and I know there are a lot of them that take a lot higher flow. if you used something like a backhoe tractor that has the large oil cooler might work but a straight farm tractor like the other said might be to much heat.

One small consideration on the tractors hydraulic capacity that should be taken into account. If the tractor has only one hydraulic pump, and can put up 18 gpm, the power steering will take at least 3 gpm off of the 18 via a priority valve. Leaving the tractor with only 15 gpm for any remote valve. I had a Ford 5640 that had a steering pump, and a main hydraulic pump, but this is not how most tractors are set up
