where to source PTO for post hole digger

I have a 3 point post hole digger for which I need a complete PTO driveline. I believe it is about 5' long and the farm stores carry only 4'. where do you recommend sourcing the pto driveline for best value/price. thanks,

There is a company in Lincoln, NE called Inline Truck Parts and Service. They make drive shafts. Not sure that they are the cheapest company but they do very good work. They do a lot of drive line work including PTO shafts. They can make just about any thing in PTO shafts and that is where the costs comes in. If it is a basic U-joint the cost is reasonable. If it is a special one or special tubing, that is where the expense comes in. I have had work done by them before and was well pleased.

Agri-Supply has a good selection, but there will be significant shipping depending on where you live. Has anyone ever installed a slip clutch (like on a cutter) on an auger? I see Agri-Supply has driveshafts complete with a clutch quite reasonable.

Start with an older welding shop in town,I know two shops that have every piece of a shaft in stock.

As most have stated there are several places to purchase PTO shafts, I personally go to a shop in town and they custom make it per my specs. Cost a bit more but it is worth it to me, they also repair shafts. If you can find a shop like that I would go that route.

you say 4 ft is that for both shafts or one if it's one then you need two shafts the male shaft and a female 4+4=8 you cut for fit

no places like TSC have shafts only about 4' long I have the original tube and it is longer but shot. the collapsed length needs to be more around 5'?

Just a comment on the subject. Those post hole diggers will bend internal hydraulic parts if you dont watch them good.

Pull up post hole digger PTO shaft. I forget the name of the company but they have anything you want for a digger.

I bought several of the cheap (vs premium units) brands from ASC over the years. Never had a problem. Gotta ensure that you get the size to do your job....in addition to the correct length and interconnect yokes....like spline-spline, or spline-pinned sleeve.
