The original subject was "Re: John Deere JB Disk Harrow value?".

Came across this old post and was wondering about two things. First, are you still looking for John Deere JB parts and second, where inc Michigan do you live? I live in Stockbridge (SE corner of Ingham Cty.)?

Boy, that was an old post for sure. I've had quite a few since then. Most JA/JBA but also a couple J/JB. They have become pretty hard to come by what with everyone needing scrap money and all. Right now, I have a very unused 8' JBA that I plan to restore but needs nothing. I don't foresee getting another or needing parts. Go onto "John Deere 2 Cylinder of Facebook " and hit the "join" button. They have over 50,000 members now and you can buy/sell and get all the JD info you could ever need on there. I live in Mt. Pleasant, MI ( central mi) Curious as to what you have tho.

I have an ad running in Jackson Craigslist titled "Old John Deere JB parts"

If you have any fellow JD friends who might be interested in, please share the listing.

Thanks for your comments and info.

Randy what is the disk in the back ? I have one just like it and I need the pieces that hook the back gangs to the weight boxes on the front gang .

Those are both " JBA " discs. Malbilly may have the parts you need. The parts you need would be the same as the JB like he says he has . The front disc has the optional hyd angle set linkage on it so you can set angle on the fly with hyd cyl. I love these little discs because you can just pop two little pins and un-latch the ball pivot at front and seperate them and pull then around by hand and lets you tilt the toung and the rear gang toung straight up and store them inside without taking up much room on floor. Simple design and easy to set angle and with a 50 lb bag of sand on ea gang, will really cut in and do a nice job of discing.

this angle probably shows the part you need.

SV cummins , I just looked at his craigslist ad and looks like he has just what you are needing. He tore the disc apart and shortened up and welded up just the front gangs for a mall tractor apparently. Jackson Mi craigslist. The one pic has the leftovers in a pile and looks to be what you need.

Around here only scrap man will buy. Not even the Amish as they are all wanting wheel disks.

I'll buy them if they go for under $150 so I can just leave them at every deer plot I put in along with a cultipacker then only thing I need to bring is a tractor with a 3pt spreader on the
back with the seed/fertilizer in it.Beats transporting equipment around.I like the way those old pull type disk harrows work the ground too.

That, or a 3pt lift boom pole. Once you un pin the front from back and straighten gangs out, one guy can pull them around and two guys can roll them up on a trailer. And they are designed so one can just use front gang for small tractor. Pretty versatile but , yes, they are a hobby toy by todays standards. Albiet, a fun and useful toy.

Thanks for your replies I sent an email and he has the parts . I took them off years ago and lost them somewhere . Was the jba available with notched disk blades ?

Glad he had what ya needed. They never came from factory with notched blades. They has choice of 16" or 18" blades but no notched. I'm sure some got replaced with notched tho through the yrs . There are several original op manuals for these on e-bay for not much money. If you are fixin' one up you may want to get one. Lists all parts and how to adjust , options etc.

I got my info from the parts section of an orig. op manual dated 1951 and it shows no notched/cut-out discs avail. maybe your book is a later edition and maybe they did finally offer them later on.

Thanks for correction. Only info that I have access to pertaining to these disk harrows is the online parts catalog. I'm aware that the newer parts catalogs have over the yrs been updated compared to the originals.

(quoted from post at 21:34:06 12/05/18) Back at that time NOBODY made a notched blade.

Thanks for correcting my mistake. Do you know what year notched disks were introduced? I own a KBA that has notched disk that I think are original disks.
Thanks,Jim
