I read your remark about having a plow trip rope attached to a spring. Just about fell off my chair laughing! Just such a clear picture for the mind. Thanks for the humor. kelly

We can laugh at it now but it is a dangerous situation - you want to make sure you have a good grip on the steering wheel to keep from falling off.

No humor in having a spring involved. The assembly actually worked liker the release on the hitch on the Deere 51, 52 and 4B plows. A ring was put in end of trip rope and it hooked to a piece that was basicaly same shape as the hitch part on the plow and if plow triped at same time it would trip the release and to hook back up just relatch it same as the plow hitch. They worked very good and you broke nothing if released. Had several of them over the years. Don't know if any remain or not.

We had a Case SC that had a spring clip on the seat frame. Think clipboard with just a wire clip.

Neighbor a lot of years ago had an A John Deere with a trailer plow and the rope tied to the seat frame. I guess the bolts were about shot and the plows caught on a rock ledge and jerked the seat off with him sitting on it. His dad was following on a Farmall M and I don?t know who was scared the worst. He wasn?t hurt except his pride, maybe somebruises
