MF 236 loader questions:

Question 1: where do you fill the hydraulic oil, and to what level?

Question 2: My MF 175 is an early edition brackets only bolting 4 bolts to the inspection plate, Later edition bolted to the side of the transmission as well. Will this be sufficient enough to pickup heavy bucket loads? Or am I risking yanking out my threads?

(quoted from post at 12:40:32 11/20/18) If the loader brackets also bolt up to the rear axle housing, it should be ok. Just remember it's a loader, not a D11 dozer.
This loader setup doesn’t bolt to the rear axle. It strictly bolts to the front main frame and then to the bell housing underneath.
I have a 5 and a 6 foot bucket for it. I’m Leary about using the 6 ft bucket. I think the bell housing will take the stress. Anybody have experience with this loader?

The 236 loader shows it has a Breakout force 3250 lbs. Lift to full height 2500 lbs using all 8 bolts on the bottom mount on the bottom of the bell housing.

The slightly smaller 232 loader that is mounted on the 35, and 135 tractors shows it has a breakout force 2600 lbs. Lift to full height 1800 lbs using only the 4 bottom bolts on the bottom of the bell housing.

So it looks like it would be ok using only the 4 bottom bolts using the loader at less capacity. The quick connect loaders like the 232, and the 236 are usually a light duty loader anyways. The mid mount does looks kind of frail to me, but apparently it does work.

thanks PT,
I’ll just pretend it’s like the 232 loader and use it to those capacities unfortunately. Does it say where to fill the hydraulic oil on the 236 loader?
I guess I cant use the loader to pull anything with a chain, like a pickup in reverse motion.

If it was a fully mounted loader you could use it for pulling a pickup out with the tractor in reverse, since it's a quick connect loader that would be a big no in my book. Does your loader have the front mount pump, a pto powered pump, or does it use a diverter valve that uses that 3 point hydraulic pump. If the loader has a front mount, or a pto driven pump the reservoir is where the control valves for the loader are mounted.

The oil is filled by removing breather cap
and pour into the elbow fitting, at upper
right of the right side vertical frame,
called the pedestal. The oil level plug is
a bolt also on right pedestal frame on
inside of upper frame just left of same
breather. Shown in pic. Takes about 5 gal
of hydraulic oil meeting Permantran 3 spec.

Thanks guys very helpful as always. Its a front mounted pump. I actually just took it off my “Great Bend” loader to use, long story. After filling the hydraulic oil the loader bleeds off raised or tilting rather rapidly. It’s functional but bleeds off. I thought low hydraulic fluid was the issue but come to think of it i was having the same problem with my Great Bend loader which I never actually used just removed. So theirs got to be a problem with the pump?
