Renovatiing some old pasture

Lely roterra . I like you wanted to see what else I could do besides plowing and discing so I thought I?d try this

Thanks I did a bunch last year all but one little field
took we had a horrible winter water stood on that
piece for 60 days and it killed the seed

How do you think it would do in sod if you had some spring moisture? My hayfields get "clumpy" with thick root balls and then they are rough to drive on, thus losing field speed. I had this thought that running one of those a couple inches deep would smooth out the field and make the stand thicker. Your soil looks powdery, I have heavy clay. Love to know your experience.

Question, has anyone done this by discing and broadcast seeding? Wondered how it would work to improve fescue pasture by sowing in some red clover in the spring. Mow the pasture down to about 2" now, then in late February do some discing and sowing.

Any thoughts?

SV, will you still have animals grazing on this pasture?

Was wondering if I should section my pasture off while the seed is germinating? Doing the pature in thirds or quarters. I have about 40 acres w/ eight, yes eight , of my wife's, daughter's and granddaughter's horses.

Most of the land around here is heavy clay this field I don?t know for sure but this machine really mellows the soil after running over it especially on the second pass the teeth on this are only about 10 inches long so it only works the top 6 inches which is perfect for seedbed prep and working down plowed ground . On hard sod like this field I?m only running About 3 inches deep

I will cut it for hay towards the end of next fall to let
the grass really take a good hold possibly graze it
the next year If the stand is kinda thin I probably
won?t cut it do anything with until the second year .
The last thing you want to do is graze it the first year
