How bad were the first NH haybines? Not sure on number but has a Ford 6 cylinder. Worth 200$ running?

what model are you looking at? I worked for the JD/NH dealer here for several years. I assume you are talking about the sickle machines. They would not cut what a knife machine will, but worked good. The ford motor didn't seem to have any problems. Is that an auger header or draper header? If you post a model number I can tell you more about it.

Yes! it's worth $200!. Even if it is TOTAL junk,it's worth that much at the scrap yard. Take a chance on it.Might surprise you.

early series was 9s, like 903,905,912 I thought the only one with 2 sickles was the 912 which was also hydrostatic drive. Is it the gearbox that drives the swather wheels or the sickle and header?

Good machines, if running $200 should be a great deal but some guys are hard on equipment so I would look over close before buying. Some parts obsolete. Early six cylinder must be a 910(planetary drive) or 912 hydrostatic drive. Still use a 903, 905, and a 909 every year on the different farms.
