over and under serrated sickle mower blades

My father had an old mower blade stored away and I made it fit the 489 haybine. I have bought NH chromium blades but they aren't double serrated like these are. I have never seen this type of blade before with the serrations on both sides, they are chromium steel. These blades cut like sharks teeth and dont seem to wear out or break. Has anyone seen this type of blade before or would you know where I can buy them. I will post a pic of the mower blade head later when i get a chance. A pic of the blades when i get to it. I sold the haybine to a friend. He's the proud owner of that shark now.

When I was at the New Holland dealer they (NH) offered both top, bottom serrated in the fine teeth, non serrated, a top serrated "big tooth" (10 per inch if i remember correctly). There again if i recall correctly it wasn't New Holland that came up with the big teeth it was an aftermarket company, maybe Hart-Carter, Herschel-Adams, or somebody. The choice depends a lot on WHAT you're going to be cutting, which guards you use (std., stub, etc.),and your field conditions (real sandy, etc.). Your dealer may not carry all the options as some may not sell well in your area. When we got somebody to switch to the top serrated big tooth they usually didn't go back. The way they wear they're almost self sharpening. It is like the different blade for a disc mower 0, 7, and 15 degree tilt depending on what, and how you're cutting.

I'm cutting Argentine Bahia. Those shark teeth would even cut bahia that was a little damp down in the grass. I cut a lot of acres with that 489 but it never did as good as it did when I put that blade in. It even cut good with sloppy guards. I'm going to try to find those from Deere, thanks. I have to replace all my blades on the 492 I bought, they have turned into straight edge blades.

Look up Hershal/adams. Last time I saw one of their catalogue they had sickle sections similar to your description. You might look at Shoup also.
