Tedder slip clutch

Has anyone ever tried to repair one of these? It
looks like the kind of thing that is impossible to
put back together.

That's a over running clutch, not a slip clutch.
It doesn't help with getting the tedder going, it lets it wind down after the pto is turned off, some tractors have a pretty strong pto brake that will jerk the tedder to a stop.
The one on my tedder is stuck, I just make sure to idle the tractor down before turning the pto off.

That's not an over running clutch. Its a slip clutch just as the original poster stated. I rebuilt mine about 10 years ago. It was a on a pequea tedder and it was a PITA.
I had to put new springs in it detents in it. Over greasing this slip clutch did not help it either.

If it's an over-running clutch as you pictured more than likely the pawls/catches are worn out so replacement with new ORC assembly would be the simplest solution.

It is actually a torque limiter. Not technically a slip clutch, but it provides overload protection similar to a slip clutch. I?ve never seen one that looked like that having ORC functionality.

Sure appears to state "over running clutch" to my reading comprehension.

Oh, I can read and I saw the "over running clutch". Much like someone else stated its a torque limiter or commonalty known as a slip clutch. I have rebuilt mine and fixed a couple for others in my area.

Maybe someone missed advertised it. Only if we were all as smart as the other guy staring at his computer 24/7.

I had to replace most of the springs in my Kuhn star Tedder slip clutch. I ordered them thru messicks as JD was 2x more. Use a large hose clamp to retract the detents + springs. Just keep all the washers and springs in the right order as they come out.
