Im trying to change the belt on my 8n. It has a Wagner loader with a shaft that connects to a pulley with four prongs that push into the the crankshaft Pully I removed the pump and loosened the shaft but theres not enough clearance to get the belt on Ive seen pictures of reverse thread shafts that connect to the pully and Ive seen spline type shafts as well. Anyone have any ideas as to this topic

Prongs or bolts?? Never seen one with prongs. If splined one should be able to see them when looking at the shaft. Splined one some time hang up due to wear but with a little wiggling one should be able to pull it out. But that said the belt will be a tight fit either way. I have found that once you have the belt on past the point of the pump drive shaft one can put that shaft back in and use it to turn the engine so as to roll the belt into place

they are prongs that slip into the main crankshaft pully. Unless they are a bunch of stripped bolts.

Yes, on the four prongs or whatever you want to call them. If the shaft is threaded into the four prongs, it is left
hand thread. May have to put the four prongs back into the crankshaft pulley and use a pipe wrench on the shaft near
the front of the radiator. Turn it clockwise to unscrew the shaft from the "four prongs". Remove the four prongs from
the crankshaft pulley and remove it from the area. Remove the old belt and install the new. Put the four prongs back
into location and into the crankshaft pulley. Turn the shaft counter clockwise into the four prong driver. Install the
shaft to the pump.

thank you for the reassurance. I just dont want to screw something up. The only other option to create clearance would be to loosen the six big bolts that hold that large cowling to the front of the tractor. I dont wanna mess with those. Ill let you know how it goes when I get a friend over to help me tonight
