Used baler belts

Belts on my old 504G are pretty well shot, but I only do about 40 bales a year with it. Works ok, but the outer left one doesn't track right and has some bad tears.
Neighbor has a 605G with fairly new belts that's headed for the iron man since the gearbox scattered.

Can probably get belts and other parts for a few cases of beer.

Any reason I can't cut these down to the 436" length I need?
It has the 9" outer belts, and 4" center ones, same as mine?

A belt does not care what length it is to work. LOL. The belts you get come off a LARGE roll of belting and they are cut to length.

I used to buy a lot of used belts before I got to baling so many bales.

I would try to buy the whole machine. Lots of parts common between the two balers, if you plan on keeping your 504 could be a smart move.

Would the gearbox from your 504G fit on his 605G? If the rest of the 605G is in better shape than your baler, that might be easier that swapping a lot of parts onto your 504G.

A $500 rebuilt gearbox and that baler would be back in business...

I'd buy it in a heartbeat...

Thank guys. This 605 is shooooot! Bearings out everywhere, gate cylinder mounts all cracked out, hitch has been ripped off and rewelded.
Like my 4x5 bale size for my operation, so the 605 as a user isn't an option.
It's bad enough I can't believe anyone put new belts on it.
