Went and picked up a new old stock grass board for the no. 8 John Deere today spent about an hour in the basement of this old store looking at parts and pieces paid 12 for the grass board and 12.95 for a new inner sole they are still available from John Deere but they are 70$ . Stopped buy the salvage yard and found a nice set of cylinders for my farm hand f11 20$ each it was closing time so I was only able to get the one pulled . All in all a pretty fun day if I had the money I would buy that basement full of parts throw em in a trailer and take them to shows and try to sell them

I was in the store earlier this last winter and found these old grass boards they actually had another one but I thought I?d just get the one just buy some chance somebody else needed one it?s not in as nice shape but if it?s still there next time I?ll probably buy it .

Pretty cool store but for practical use in heavy tangled hay a wooden grass board will be likely to break. The metal ones like used on the JD 350 mowers work good and are tough.

What a wonderful store! Don't know of any like that any more this side of the pond. By the way, in Scotland we just call 'grass boards' 'dividers', never broke a wooden one yet on the NH445E in even the thickest hay - the mount is spring loaded, though. Jim

Thanks for the replies . I never knew this place has a basement until a friend I worked with at the dairy told me they had a basement with all kinds of parts . So one afternoon we went down there and I looked around and found a few things picked up a new piece of 2080 chain for my 314 ih plow . I think could spend all day down there and still go back the next day and look again

Hi, we never used the term ' grass board'. It was always called a swathboard. I've made a few years ago. We used to put an old shovel handle on the side for extra high grass. Ed Will Oliver BC

I only know what the books call it . This is my first mower I?ve got two swather but I?ve always wanted a sickle mower

Thanks. I have to run to Butters in Tremonton in the next couple of weeks. Might just hop over the mountain and look.
