I just picked up 2 little genius plows. Im hoping to build a good one out of the two, and maybe reassemble the second into a working unit.
I have no experience with these plows so I could very well be doing something wrong.

I don't know if everything is moving as it should at this point. I went to put them away for later and tried to back them into a spot and the tail wheel would spin to the side and jam. I didn't want to damage anything so I didn't force it.

Is there a way to set things so that you can lift the tail wheel to back up the plow. It appears that it relies on the tail wheel to provide support to the rear of the plow.

These are what you are referring to I guess?

Also is this rod supposed to be this straight. Both of mine are really bent.

Like the other guys said there are lock collars with a bolt like a set screw to lock in place but your best bet is to pull up as close as possible to where you want it and unhook it and roll it back . If you still have the jackstand on the hitch hook it on one of the levers and use the hitch , pull down on the hitch as you push back , makes it easier to steer . I really don't think they were meant to back up. The lock collars were for pulling down the road in hi gear to keep it from swaying back and forth.

HI I have manuals for those plows. I do have the factory locks that go on the rear rod. Thanks Steve 419-618-0017

I think I know what you mean. I'm hoping to get a manual and see what this "lock" thing is. If your interested here are some pictures of what I got.

Mine I line up and then follow it in. Practice in the open to see what I mean.

Easy fix: put a Vice Grip pliers on the curved rod when you have the wheel set where you want to back up, then just back it up.

Only way to hold that tail wheel is on the rod there take 2 good strong vice grips and pull the wheel into the position you want by hand and then clamp a vice grip on the rod on both sides of the bracket it goes through. And then it will still not go where you want it to. It will at least keep that wheel from fliping to the side enough that you can slide the back end by hand as you push it in place by hand. You will never get it to back where you want with the tractor.

You can lock the tail wheel but doesnt seem to do much good. I tow mine backward with my cub cadet near to where i want it to go and then wheel it by hand the rest of the way. My plows are on rubber so they are not too hard to move.

Get a manual it will show you how to lock it. Chances are the lock is missing.

On mine, you get ahold of the rear of the plow and pull it back to where you want it by muscle power. The tail wheel doesn't lock to the best of my knowledge.
