I used an old piece of Bar stock with evenly spaced holes already in it, welded a trailer axle stub securely to that... Then, I made a 12" plate that will bolt where the one in the above picture is, with a 3 bolt holes.(one above the other). Drill those holes so that when you bolt the GW to it, and measure it's length, then move it to the other position it will make a difference in length of only 1/2 the space between the bolt holes..so you have more depth options.. If you wnat to just Bolt the GW to the Mounting plate, you may well need 4 holes that will yield a different length for each mounting position.. If you make a BOX, for the GW to slip up into, you only need 2 holes, drilled appropriately to give you twice as many GW depths as there are holes in the vertical Bar.. Hope that makes sense...!! You WILL need the wheel and tire, to make measurements as to how long the Vertical is going to need to be.. Not hard to make...just remember to space the wheel OUT far enough the you do not end up with the rear Coulter too close to the tire..!!! If you can, make the GW vertical Bar long enough that you can use it as a Parking Stand.! If you would use Heavy-Walled Square Tube, the Vertical part probably would be stout enough, but making the Box for it to slip up and down in will be more or less the same procedure.. I think trying to use anything other than a Gauge Wheel would be a waste of your time and NOT using anything is just about impossible on the 50, 60 and 70 ...!!! Look through your scrap pile and see what you have..!!! Ron..
