Recently my work gear that runs the twine disc has started slipping throwing the twine disc out of time on the right side on my NH 68.I use a three foot pry bar to push up against the shaft when I tighten the nut on the worm gear down. I know I need to change the shaft and gear since they are probably worn causing the slipping, but to get by so I can finish out this week...you think a little JB Weld put inside the gear before it's tightened down might hold it? Or some lock tight? Thank you for all your help.

But that's what I'm saying...I have it tightened down as much as I can without stripping the threads and it is still slipping on the shaft. Which means either the shaft or gear is worn too much. I'm just trying to get by for this week.

It's just an interference fit on NH. The shaft is tapered and the inside of the gear is tapered. You pry down on the shaft while tightening the nut up.

Lock tight or some such probably would hold for a while. I would have to look at the 68 and or the 271 to see what your talking about for sure. If I remember right the JD 14T use a roll pin but not sure if that is the same on the NH balers
