Refurbishing a No. 5 mower and cannot find replacement universal joints. Deere no longer supplies the bushings Z7779H . Does anyone know where I can find these?

Thanks guys for the options. I'm sure my wife would agree with you Carlyle that I can't afford new ones. When she asks "how much did THAT cost?", I've learned to reply in vague terms like "about what I expected".

Take it to a good machine shop and they will probably fix it better than original.

If you are not doing a "factory perfect/factory 'correct' " restoration,I would cut off those old obsolete U joints and replace them with new modern Ujoints.

Yes, you could replace the entire shaft but the input shaft to the mower gearbox is square which a correct size yoke may be found. You would also lose the slip clutch which is pretty important. Best to have some bushings made if you can't find nos parts. Some bushing stock may be hardenable but a machine shop can advise.
