Is there a trick to get the spring depressed and the ball and socket hooked up? Shown are the old then new parts fr the socket connecting pitman to sickle bar

Stick a large SCREW DRIVER or i use a long thin drive PUNCH.

After you do get it open, be sure and put a shot of grease on that ball before you close it back up.

Take a look at the diagram below.

Note the rear strap (Key 1), release spring (Key 3), front strap (Key 17), and latch fork (Key 19).
