How good is a 475 disc? Or are the 490 and 496 better disc? around 20 ft is what I need!

I had a 475 it is a good disk. Mine had the 9 inch spacing. I had some gumbo soils. It was miles ahead of the bw it replaced.

How much trash? Disc are good some yrs and bad in some. Disc tend to cause compaction issues unless the soil is right. I use one on the lighter side for that reason. 475 is a good disc, just not as "heavy" as a 495-496.

The 490 and 496 are a lot heavier. They all do a good job. They also made a 485 that is in the middle as far as weight. I don't see many of them around here. There is also the 7.5 vs 9 inch spacing debate. I have used both and both have their advantages. The 9" seems to me to do a better job as a primary tillage tool and the 7.5" does a good job on a seed bed. There a lot of 475's in this area. I have one with a 7.5 spacing. I am considering a 485 I have found that has 9" spaced blades.
