Looking at a Van Brunt model FB177A drill that was used 6 years ago to plant alfalfa/oats and has been kept in shed and cleaned out. What would be a ball park price be for this drill be in north east ks.

That's the same thing I've used the last few years to get started. Parts are available and they are fairly easy to work on and with. My big complaint is that I spend more time filling it than seeding with it. The boxes are pretty small if you plan on seeding very many acres. Depends on your seed rate obviously but I've found mine to be good for about 3-5 acres and then refill it.

I bought a fb 15x7 with small seed box and mechanical lift ( not hydraulic) at a sale last fall for $195 . It had been sitting for years in a shed but "was working when parked". It was all there and fertilizer boxes were good, several shafts were froze up, took lots of pb blaster and working by hand but it is now useable. If I paid myself $10 per hour I would have several hundred more in it so a working drill for $500-$600 wouldn't be a bad deal. BTW most parts are still available from deere, but can get expensive.

JD FB-A grain drills are getting long in the tooth similar to me as they were built in the 50's and I in the 40's. What type disk lift system. I suppose since it was used to plant Alfalfa it has small seed attach? Single or double disk openers?
