Have a Krone EC320 3 point disc mower that I"ve not used much. But with some of this late-season lush, wet, alfalfa-orchard grass forage, the old NH 1499 sickle bar won"t get it. The disc mower cuts it well, but tends to bunch it badly. Have promising weather for next few days, so it looks like raking/tedding should spread the bunches so they can dry. Is this typical of disc mowers? No conditioner on this one; don"t know if maybe an integral conditioner tends to even out the swath? Any other options for avoiding the thick bunches?

Try not to mow when damp and go faster.

Most likely what you said, damp and thick, that happens a good bit when the dew is on. You may want to try waiting until the dew burns off and see if it bunches a lot less.

Try changing ground speed. Maybe faster will help....

Mine bunches when I let the rpm's get too slow. I have to keep it wound up.
