I bought a plow share off ebay. The seller said it was steel. I'm not sure any way to tell?

The share came from an old Massey dealer. it was made in Canada. The numbers on the back are 660 547m91 Says SC on back which I'm guessing is soft center?

Touch a drill bit to the back side. If the metal spirals it is steel. If it drills in small chips it is cast. Ellis

I would say it's steel. Probably painted over the rust... but steel no less.
Only thing I've seen with cast iron points was the old scotch bottom plows...

Never heard of cast iron on anything but early horse drawn walking plows. All blacksmith sharpen are cast steel as you cannot form cast iron with fire and a hammer.

Touch a grinding wheel against it and look at the spark. Mild steel will be orange, cast will be more reddish.
