I am looking into a White 5100 planter. I have not seen it yet in person, but according to the owner, it has a couple issues. 1. One of the units plants beans too light, he says only about half population. It only happens with this row on beans, not corn. He says it is not a seed disk issue, as it doesn"t matter which disk is in, it does it. What might cause this?

2. The air pressure gauge does not work. Where could I get a new one?

I have read up on these planters, and they supposedly do a very nice job. I plan on going to look at it this week, and would like any ideas or suggestions on what to look for. Thank you.

Read your post again, and it seems like he has moved the seed discs around. Check the drive chain and make sure its ok and that there's no pins sheared. Also check the bolt that holds the seed disc in. could be something preventing that from tightening down enough. Like Jr55 says they are so simple there can't be much wrong with it.

Make sure all the bean disc s are the same. There are 2 styles. One with a hole in each cell, which allows 2 beans per cell and one with no holes which allows only one per cell.[think that's right ,could be the other way]Otherwise it could be a bad brush or an air leak or the air tube could be plugged. Once you get it set up, it's basicly idiot proof. I've run mine for 15 years so it must be.

the air tube could have a hole in it, or there are brushes in side that go against the plate. it can't be much wrong with it. I had one for many years.

Ok, so I see a new gauge can be had off amazon, but any ideas on the soybean feeding issue?
