Im wondering if anybodies got any ideas on the equipment needed, and the viability of mounting an oiler to drip oil over the twister hook shafts, to keep the wire from getting wound around the shafts. Im getting new shafts this week and that may solve the problem, BUT IF NOT, I was wondering about oilin g the shafts

I used to put NeverSeize on the shafts, and that would let me bale 50 to 75 bales before messing up, so that gave me the idea of dripping oil on them.

Problem may be the twister hooks. When they get worn, the wire will not pull thru as the bale discharges. Shafts do get worn, but usually do not cause the problem.

Oil the wire in the wire box. Pour a quart of diesel or motor oil in each box.

I poured 1/2 gal of used motor oil in the middle and on top of each wire box. Im going to try to build up the twister hooks with JB weld. IF that lasts a season I can redo it. I have no illusions about it being a permanent fix. Thanks.
There are NO new twister hooks for it to be found anymore, so building them up is the only alternative,

Sorry about the availability of new hooks. Are JD hooks similar?

The throat of the hook becomes worn and will not let the wire strip out after twisting.

Don't suppose you can show a pic of a JD twister hook can you? I Doubt there the same, as I took the tie mech to a JD Dealer here, and stressed how rare the hooks are. Im pretty sure that they would have made mention of any sameness if there had been any.
