I had all of my belts resized to be an inch shorter that what the book calls for. The belts are not new but the have a couple years left in them I think. I have loosened the three bolts on each air bag all of the way out and then screwed them in to touching plus a little. Now the problem. when I engage the pto the belts will not turn, if I spray some belt dressing on them they will turn a little. With pto not engaged they seem real loose to me. The belts are installed correct I am pretty sure, according to the book. Is there an adjustment that I an missing somewhere? Thanks for any help at all.
Bob

Before you go to far with changes go back and reset those stop bolts on your air bags. You can put 300 lbs of air in and it won"t change a thing, Those stops are used to hold your belts loose to allow an easier starting bale. if set up to far your belts are to loose to turn. losing an inch or two of belt usually won"t require a change. I would be tempted to try nto bale a little if you think you need them set up. I just put all new belts in my 605M and found iy took 10nbales to break in the belts and polish the rollers. Remember if there is the slightest difference in length or even in the bbelt tension between rollers something has to slip. a little rust and you need to break things in. Good luck. I remember when we went from a J to a super J with Auto weave and tie thought baling was suddenly fun.

I think you are missing hay, stick a windrow in there and I bet it will start to work. I am with you on the JD baler but no funds.

An inch on the belts would not be even noticeable. You have your air bags WAY too loose. Set them just like you normally would. The belts are not turning because the belts are too loose and will not bit the drive rolls.

I have them aired up to 80 Psi. There has to be something that I am missing on an adjustment, and that is possible for me. I know one thing I am missing is a 457 JD baler, gotta get one of them
