I recently bought a Case model Centennial pull type trip plow. The former owner tried to use it but stated when he tripped the plow, the plow acted like it wanted to go down but would immediately raise back up. I am not familiar with case plows so anything advice would be greatly appreciated.

Would there be a spring or anything inside the trip mechanism that might be broke or damaged? I plan to take the trip mechanism apart but wanted to get some feedback first. Also, what weight oil should I use in the trip mechanism? The type of plow I have is an oil bath trip mechanism (Case Centennial plow)?

You just give the trip rope a quick tug to trip it. If you hold the trip rope forward too long it will cycle back to the raised position.
