I currently have a jd1360 discbine. I pulled the fill plug out the other day, and it must be magnetized, because I had metal shavings sticking to it. First question...Is the cutterbar on the way out..or are some shavings ok? I change the oil every year, but havent yet this winter. Second question..1359 massey discbine I found for sale..any good?

Some filings are normal. I wouldn't get too excited about it. What I would do is grab each turtle, one by one... and rock them fore/aft to check for slop in the bearing. If you find one that's loose... replace it. Those are pretty easy to change. 4 bolts in the turtle shell then 4 more to remove the module from the bar. You can either change the module for the appropriate Kuhn part or buy a new bearing from Deere.

That is correct. The same machine has also been branded as a Hesston 3309.

From what i remember, some shavings are OK. It's what the magnet is there for. There should be one in each end. Just keep the oil changed and keep an eye on it. If they're excessive, it's time to check it out.

I think that 1359 is a Hesston. Should be bulletproof if it's like the rest of their stuff.
