Had some pretty misshaped bales this summer and finally investigated today. Had a broken spring on one of the hay "dogs" which is an easy fix.
BUT look what happened to two bottom dogs.

You can see apparently the spring was stronger than those two plates and broke them clean off. Only have one working hay dog on the bottom now.
The NH parts catalog lists these as a "hay dog - welding required". Ya no #$% - great design!! Just wondering if there's an easier fix for those two plates broken off or is it definitely weld time?
