I just bought a NH 853 Round Baler, Red Control Box to mount on Fender with switch on each side, and light on top. Heres by question, Manual shows box but does not say whats the best way to hook to tractor, Battery directly?, Control box has one black cable with copper end, and a some sort of breaker box about a foot from end, the white cable has a silver metal end. I can send pic if needed.

Thanks,

I have a 851, same box I think. I put a 12 volt lighter plug on mine and just plug it in when I bale. I remove the box when it's not being used.

When I installed one on my buddy's tractor I picked up a 2 prong power plug at the auto parts store. They usually come with both ends.

Sounds like the box on our NH 630

The wire with the breaker is the hot wire, the other is the ground.

My owners manual recommends the wire be hooked to the hot lug on the starter, and ground to the frame. My opinion is that is a PITA, especially with anti jump safety covers. I have it hooked direct on the battery, should be easier if the battery isn't a pain to get to.

Best bet is to wire a 2 wire plug so you can easily detach the box when not needed. I haven't got that far yet. :)

I just wire the baler box direct to the batter in the spring, remove when baling done. Open station tractor makes it easier to put on and off anyways.

Is this is how I work it?, 1) alarm goes off, Stop tractor, hit switch on right of box until twine cuts and then open back to release bale?

Light or alarm or both will go off (depending on the switches) when the baler starts it's tie cycle. Stop the tractor when you see the twine feeding and wait for the cycle to finish and cut. Dump the bale.

Do not rely totally on the alarm, keep an eye out on the size gauge as well.

Some will sound the alarm the entire time it's tying, and some added another button so he alarm sounds just for a second or two which is much more plesant.

My box has one 3 position switch. Light, OFF, Both.
