Ferguson 12 AO 28 plow

Hello,

Got this old Ferguson plow and wondered about the color. Looks like it is is a bluish green color. Maybe it was repainted or maybe down to primer after grey wore off? Maybe painted a ford color? Some red on the furrow wheel as well.

Ferguson 12 AO (10?) 28 I think, tag was damaged. Serial 67118 (?) last digit hard to read. Trying to figure out what it is before trying to find some points for it. Mould boards are wearing quite thin too. Age of it approximately ?

I paint most of my old fergy stuff battleship gray,

do not know if that is right or not, but close enough for government work.

attached is a picture of my old fergy disc plow.
old stuff looks good behind my TO-35

and battleship gray paint does not fade out so bad setting in my storage barn, (under an old oak tree), if lucky, most stuff is just lined up in an old fence row.

What a nice plow! Looks like it could sink an enemy ship if required to. I like the battleship gray.

Ferguson machinery was always Grey same as the TO 20-30 tractors, The 35 was a different grey but I like it better. Massey Harris was always red and when the machinery became Massey-Ferguson it was all read., Ford (Dearborn) was red from 1948 to 1961?, then became blue. So if tag says Ferguson then it was battleship grey and not the flint grey of the TO35.

note the difference in the gray of the old TO-35 tractor and the battleship gray color.

You pay about 3 times as much for the fergy gray.

This old 1957 TO-35 orginially was painted cream color and gray, but i always thought it looked like sometype of old case. When you said it was a Fergy, people just laughed, as the only fergy's they had ever seen were gray or red.

Guess Fergy got a special on some cream color paint for a year or two.

No one knew what it was as there are so few of them still painted cream and gray.

Someday and you know when that will be, I might get wild and paint it back cream and gray.

But, that would require a lot of work on my part and may leave that for my son's to do someday.

Interesting that Fergy engineers put 3-12" plows on that little tractor from the factory, wonder what soft sandy bottom they found to do their test trials in.

Old tractor would have been much happier over the years with 2-14" plows.

Keep your old equipment looking good.

Note to file: attached is a picture of the original owners manual that came with the tractor. It shows a little fergy that was painted cream and green, booklet is print dated 1956.

bet somebody was getting a kickback on paint during those years.

Yeah an old Ferguson wouldn't likely handle a three bladed plow in my playground of clay. It is amazing what was done with little horsepower 50-60 years ago. How about those Farmall Cubs 11-12 hp with four cylinders? They sure are smooth running though.

I liked that Cream color well. And there were 2 of the TO 30's with 3-12" and one with 3-14" in my area and it is not easy plowing, others pulled 2-14"

I saw a plow at auction April 7, in Galena MD, must be it's brother.
