Anyone have any experience with one of these machines? 14ft hydra swing, with steel on steel rollers. The only machines I have run have been rubber on rubber, what kind of job will the steel on steel do conditioning hay?

Steel on steel works just fine. We've got a 1014+2 with a narrower crimper and that works good in all but the thickest (1st crop) hay. If the crimper is wider than 4' like ours, it'll work fine.

The 1160 has 110 inch conditioner rolls which are the same width as the current AGCO windrowers. The steel-on-steel works well and doesn't wear out like the rubber does.

The steel on steel work well IF you don't have any rocks. They will bend if a rock goes through them. The whole rolls does not bend just the mating flutes.

The price would be the determining factor. The steel rolls will bring more in some areas. Many guys say the crimps is better with the steel rolls.

I have only owned one piece of Hesston hay equipment. It was an older 5500 baler. I did not care for it and kind of steered away from Hesston stuff since.
