I aquired a Viking PTO driven Hammer Mill that belonged to my Grandpa. I would like to use this mill on my small farm. I would like to grind Milo and Corn for my Cattle, Hogs, and Chickens. What size of screen do I need? Where can I purchase screens for this Mill? THANKS!

I use a 1 inch screen to grind cob corn for the cows. I bought it from www.consolidatedmill.com Real nice people to deal with. I think it cost about $90 with shipping. I figure it should last a darn long time so over the years it will pay for itself. There is a chart to show what measurments (sp) they need.

I also used the size screens that Rusty said. I didn't have the right quarter inch screen for the mill. I found some odd ball screens and just welded them together and cut them the size my mill took. Worked real good.

I agree with rustyfarmall for the screen sizes. Finding screens will likely be a challenge. They are one of those things that usually got set in the corner of a shed and forgotten. I know that there are companies that custom make screens if you give them the dimensions but I do not know any names off the top of my head.

For cattle, you want a much coarser product, so use a screen with at least 1/2 inch holes. For chickens and hogs, a 1/4 inch screen is better.
