Case Trailer Plow, What Tire should I use?

I got a case trailer plow the other day and pulled the tires off so I could replace them, but on the tire it said 16-500. I am pretty new to this and was wondering what can of tires I should get for this. It has 6 lugs and the rims are off. I don't even know where to start. Any advice?

It couldn't have been 500-16, could it? In any case, you could use any 16" tire you can find. If you get the inside of the rim sparkling clean, and put a thin coat of grease on the bead area, that will make it much easier next time you have to take it apart. To minimize the messiness, I grease one bead, assemble the rim, tire and tube and grease the other bead right before I air it up.

If you want the original type tire on it, Miller Tire sells a 5.50-16 traction tread, but it ain't cheap. Read the numbers close, because they list a 5.00-15 traction tread, too.

Would recommend a tube in it, American made over Chinese. Am taking the 3rd chinese tube back since January, all were new and all have failed at the seam!! American will cost you a couple $ more, but you got piece of mind.

I bought a set of AKURETS for my IH plow. They dont cost all that much and have a "rim edge guard " around them.I like these tires.I hear good reports of guys using this brand on the rear of their tractors,as well. DEFINITELY use a U.S.A. inner tube!!! Some foreign ones ARE junk!

Is this a "trip" or a hydraulic plow???? (I would use "Chevron V" tire on landwheel with tread ran reversed from what tractors is,if it were mine?)

Where can one find an American tube? Anything I can get around here, even with "American" names, is coming out of China, Malaysia, or Indonesia.

most (independent) tire shops that deal with agriculture customers can get them from their supplier. Some buy one, others only order in bulk, a full box. Their sometimes is the crux of it. Also online, such folks as miller tire, who deals with (rare) ag tires can probably get them.... If you cannot get us made ones, make sure the seller will exchange/mount them at no further cost tot you should they fail, for example at the seams...my local guy 's done that. I still have to bring the tire in and take off/ mount back onto the tractor, but that's it.

Have you been getting the "Made for Firestone" (Not "Made by Firestone") tubes that are made in China and Korea, too?

The Korean "Firestone" tubes I bought for front tractor tires got pinholes in the seams of the tube. Didn't matter if it was on a new rim or a rusty mess of a rim. After patching four tubes a total of probably ten times (total, not each), I put the old tubes back in. I've had no trouble since.

I bought some implement tire tubes that were Chinese "Firestone" and had split apart in the package. Dealer said they weren't on their shelf more than than two months.
