4020 with 3 bottom 18" roll over plow

What gear do you guys plow in? I'm in ne Oregon soil type is just eastern Oregon dirt no clay. I've been going in 3rd and it seems to pull it alright.

Depends on the soil.2nd thru 5th.4th is about average.in the "tigershit"the old '20 would struggle in 3rd.in the lighter soils it run easily in 5th.I once polwed a field of sod in the "tigershit" in 2nd.I had 3x16(IH #314 rollover plow)

In the early days of my farming career I used a 730D and a nonturbo 4020.my'best bud'had a 4010.those two tractors were close to beeing the 'same' tractor.We we each pulled 3x16s.

2 nd through 4th pulling 5 bottom ih 550 semi mount

try all the gears, watch your oil and water temp if you are over
heating the engine go down a gear
