I have an Ellis transplanter. The unit currently has a 6 tooth drive sprocket, which gives me 12 inch plantings. I need to obtain a larger drive sprocket to decrease my spacing for garlic to 8 or 6 inches. Does anyone know where I can obtain the larger sprockets?

The company is still in business. Their website www.ellissaw.com does not indicate anything about the planter but someone at the company should be able to answer your question.

You will to add a lot more pockets on the chain, in addition to sproket, to get that close. Ken

Equipment dealers and parts houses in farm country often/usually have a generic line of weld-on sprockets with different hubs..... ....

Have you tried a former Ellis dealer, or checked to see if they are still in business? If not, as I recall, they used detachable link drive chain, each link is stamped with the size. Once you know the size chain, you can find sprockets, at several sources, not limited to Shoup, agrisupply, most tractor dealers. If the sprocket has some feature that makes it hard to match up, you might have to do some jiggerin, to get it right.
