I keep seeing these different category specifications for 3-point hitch parts. I have a Massey-Ferguson 35 (1961)... Do I need to be looking at only 1 of these categories? (I'm assuming the categories are load limits, but I could be wrong)... ???

Your tractor will be a cat 1 3 point system. Specs for them are on the left of the page in the research and info area and it explains what and why and etc.

Cat 0 is garden tractor size and cat 3 is the big articulated tractors, Cat 1 started back in 1939 for the 9N Ford and 23 HP tractors and is good and common on all standard tractors up to around 50 HP and cat 2 is tractors 50 to 100 HP in size and they all have different measurements with the larger being wider spaced pins and bigger diameter pin that will not fit your lift arms and the garden tractor cat 0 is too small it will not fit so load limits are involved but allso sizes. The Cat 0 lower pins are 3/4", Cat 1 are 7/8", and Cat are 1 1/8" and 3 is so large I am not sure what size they are.

You can use "Cat 2" implements that are appropriate for your tractor size, by using a "Bushing" over your Cat 1 3-point pins..
So, you will not be stuck with only using "Cat 1" equipment..on your Cat1 3-Point..

Pardon me, but I think you've got it backwards! You can put a cat 1 implement on a cat 2 hitch by using the bushings, but can't put a cat 2 implement on a cat 1 hitch ( the pins will not fit the balls!)

You can use cat 1 implememts on cat 2 hitches ,but you cannot use cat 2 implements on cat 1 hitches.Steve

OH-Baby, are you Right..!!!!

I guess you should either get Cat 1 lower arms OR get Cat 2, for more implement options..

Sorry about my 1st post, I was in error..

I may be wrong, but I believe the IH 364 that I sold last year, had a top link that was 1" at the tractor and 3/4" at inplement hookup??
If I am correct, was this an IH thing or did other manufacturers have it?

I have bought multiple top links and switched screw ends for this same effect. My bushog was rebuilt by P.O. and a larger top link is needed than my 3000 is supposed to use. In effect, they changed to cat 1 pins on lower arms. Now in reality this shredder should be all cat 1, could use adapters for top link. Just wasn't comfortable putting a stainless steel bush hog on a 59 cent TSC adapter, lol. (heaviest 5 footer I have seen yet). Mine is just opposite setup than yours.

Standing there totally lost at TSC and trying to figure out what size shredder I had just bought for my very first farm implement and whether or not it would fit the tractor just bought three days before. Had no clue! Scary moment, looked it up here and other places and figured out what to do to make things work. Not that difficult once get used to what your looking at.
