Quarter Turn Bale Chute

I need to make a Quarter Turn Bale Chute for my baler, does anyone have a drawing or dimensions or how to make one? I need to bale this weekend and would rather not have to walk te field to turn all the bales by hand.... Any help will be greatly appreciated.

a quick way is to remove one side of the tailgate if its in two halfs like most new hollands are. works ok but some bales roll to far and land back on there flat again. Will try and get some measurement tomorrow off the one we made

Just a plain and simple solution..
We used to drill about a 1/2" hole 3" in the center from the end of the bale chute, take a triangle file and square it to fit a carriage bolt. Drill a hole 1'from the end of a 4' oak 2x4 and bolt to the under side of the chute. This allows you to pivot the 2x4 left or right to roll the bale out of the way. A little practice in setting the angle of the 2x4 and the bales will set right up on edge..
PS the 3' length sticks out and if using rough cut lumber it should be planned smooth...

I'll second what Down under farmer stated as that's what it shows in a NH 276 parts catalog under bale chute attach. it shows to remove LH side of bale chute.

If you search "quarter turn bale chute" on Implement Alley, you should find the thread where several guys helped me build one about 2-3 years ago.

One of the NH balers I have has a chute that goes out so far on both sides then the one side ends and the other goes in another 16 inches or so. The left side goes out around 3 foot and the right side ends right at the chain hook up so as the bale slides out it will fall off laying cut side down

We always loaded them right on the rack hooked to the baler. Or we loaded on a skid, after dropping them on the ground flat, on the same day or the next morning.

Just wondering why you turn them on their side??

I have a NH 1010 Stacker wagon, they have to be on edge for it to pick up the bales. Unfortunately my baler does not have the original chute on it, the original one would have been a two piece, but the one on it is solid. I"ll do a search later for more info, That is going to be friday"s project as I hope to bale Saturday.

When I bought a 1010 Bale Wagon several years ago,
I had an extra two piece wagon loading bale chute that I cut the first section up with a torch to
resemble an "L". It works, but its not as good as the heavy one that Bob shows. I have to ride a dirt bike around and turn about 5% of them back on
their side, but its pretty hilly ground, so ?.

My Bale Wagon had 1" strips welded on the sides of
the second table for hilly ground, works remarkably well. Keep all of your drive chains
oiled and snug. When mine unloads off the side,
the second table sometimes loses a bale or two off
of the front when the main table pushes another row of 8 bales back onto the second table.

I think you could bolt a 3"x3" piece of 1/8" to
1/4" angle iron onto the back of your bale chute
on your baler to the bolt used for the wagon chute
so that it would extend out 24". It probably should have a chain to the top for support like
wagon chutes do. As Old said, "cut side down".
