My uncle just bought a new 10' howse cutter. He has an old one just like it.
He said I could use it if I fixed the clutch. I have the new clutch disks, but I am not sure about what one plate does.

It has one plate that has two L's on it. they are bent backwards now.
I think I need to heat them up and bend them back toward the center of the clutch but don't know if they are supposed to touch or not.

Also how do you know when your clutch is tight or loose enough? Take a big wrench and drive into heavy weeds ?[/img]

Sounds like you may need an operator's manual.

According to the Howse website, they will send you one for $7.50, mailing included. 601-428-0841

I think if you heat plate you'll ruin it.

I called Howse as suggested and talked to a super nice guy there. Evidently mine is antique. He couldn't find any thing with those Ls on it.
But said it didn't appear they did anything.

He went over the parts I had and said it should work. He also emailed me a parts diagram.
