Another Ford 503 rake question....belt replacement

I have new belts in hand for my 503 rake. Need practical advice on installing them...well the big one. I have the small one (for the stripper bar) already installed.

My rake is the early verson (red paint) with twin input shafts. As I see it, the large bolt holding the right side reel wheel has to come out in order to get the belt on properly. I've been able to remove the large nut, but can't get the bolt or reel wheel assembly to budge. I'm not sure how much force (if any) I should use, so I'm coming here for advice before I proceed further.

Is it a matter of force or do I just need to jostle things around until the bolt lines up well enough to slide out? I tried supporting the bar assembly on the right end with timbers underneath, but now I'm thinking maybe I need to hold it with a shop boom from above.

Looked at it and still can't remember. Nut doens't look like it's been off. Maybe I got to the same point you are, adn decided to take the 3 (smaller) bolts out for the left wheel. Or I suppose one could take all 5 bars off the right wheel... As far as force... I think I'd loosen the nut a couple turns and give it a good whack with a big hammer. With years of rust to hold it, I doubt it would slide out. Holding it up with a boom would be ideal, if practical.

I replaced mine a couple years ago. Can't remember for sure, but don't think I had to take the reel wheel off. I'll go out and look at it...maybe I'll remember then.
