Just got this Grimm flipper type tedder. Wanted advice about when to use it. Right after cutting, or the next day or 2nd day. This is just mixed grass hay with some clover or lezpadeza. Also does it do better to go the same way you mowed it or at a right angle? Thanks

Is it ground drive or PTO? Either way I let it lay a day and rake it. Next AM I flip it over with the pinwheel with 2 wheels chained up and then toss it with the Grimm. Mine is ground driven so I put a hich on the rake and do both in one trip.

You should ted the hay the next morning while the dew is on. If you are mowing with a sickle bar mower that lays the hay out flat and long ways then go at a 90 degree angle. If you are using a mower conditioner then just go the way you mowed the hay. The conditioner will have the hay crossed enough that the flippers can catch them.
