I was out this afternoon, with a camera, inspecting the place for winter damage. Finding little, I went inside the barn and ended up going through/sorting some tractor parts. I took a picture of my planter plate collection (thinking that someone might enjoy seeing it) and a couple of pictures of a particular type of plate that I wanted to post and see if the collective wisdom could tell me what make of planter it was made for.

My observation is that some people will collect anything (witness the plate collection) and the question; well, I guess I already asked you the question.

All responses appreciated. Thanks, Art

Al,
Thanks for the reply. Sometimes I can’t help myself either!

That snow fence has worked wonderfully. When I rebuilt the barn, I was looking for a way to keep things (including myself) from falling out of the mow. The snow fence was relatively inexpensive; I like the look of it and it keeps dogs, grandkids and almost everything else from going to the first floor “Unexpectedly”.

There’s also an added bonus; you can believe it or not but since I put that snow fence up, I haven’t had any snow drifts in the hay mow at all! Ha!

Have a great evening,

Art

my GUESS is a plate used with one for planting corn( put them together) for planting small garden seed such as radishes and things.covington still does this I think. but then again thats a guess, sure different than anyone ive ever seen.my little walk behind earthway garden planter uses plates with a center similar to that but they are plastic.that may be what its for ,a old planet jr or something of the nature.can get custom plates cut for a lot of planters also.

I would guess that plate is from an old 1 row horse drawn walk behind planter from some small local company.

I ran across one with notches like that the other day. I'd be guessing beans maybe, not soybeans edible beans, kidneys, great northerns, or something with a large seed.

Cowman,
I agree that the plate must have been made for soybeans or some seed like that. What I can"t figure out is what manufacturer made the plate. What make of planter does it fit?

Thanks for the reply,

Art

That is an odd one isn't it. We had a Pioneer dealer here years ago who had one heck of a variety of plates that they loaned out. They had some for some oddball brands, but I don't rememeber ever seeing anything like that one.
