John deere walking plow restoration

I have an old John Deere walking plow that I’m looking to restore. So I’m trying to find out exactly when it was built and what colour scheme it had etc. It has 834 stamped into the steel beam and has steel handles. I’ve also attached a photo.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Would that by any chance be the pony plow in being about an 8" plow instead of the normal size of 12" or 14"?

Excellent! This is an unusual one. That beam number is actually 334 and it was used on the Bantam Series 7 inch plows with wood handles built 1918. That doesn't match your pictures, which look like a 7" New Bantam plow for Africa, with the steel handles. BUT those plows used a different beam number. I am checking in 1930 and 1942 Plow Works Catalogs and may need to dig out something older. The part numbers don't always match what is on the plow. My guess was it is built 1918-1925. The handles could have been "as ordered" according to the book but they didn't use the K265a, rather K240 is listed. It is likely the handles were red varnish, or maybe clear varnish. I'm not convinced the beam was green, but I don't have another color to offer. Not sure this is much help, if I discover more I'll post it.
