On the outboard end of the auger drive on my 14T baler there's a shear pin (I think) that's held by a set screw. At least I think it's a shear pin, there's a hole there. Anyone able to tell me what goes there? And no, I don't have a manual, yet.

A hardend bushing is held in by the set screw and the shear pin drives through the bushing.

Thanks guys, I figured it was shear pin of some sort. This baler was a freebie. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or sell it. Has the Wisconsin on it.

This is the pin, I think, Key #25. Not a REAL expensive part. (Key #32 is a heavier pin used if there is a slipclutch installed on the upper (drive) sprocket.)

A very sensitive shear pin. But i learned to save my small broken pieces and use them again till there was too little to use. They a frequent breaker when the humidty increases or dew falls. I used to be able to set my watch by when it started breaking. 7:00 pm! lol That is the reason i am thinking of getting a 24 T for th enext baler, but in farm show one guy replaced his belt drive on 24 T with the same setup as on the 14 T . Go figure. i can deal with the belt slippage as opposed to constantly replacing those poins.

i had a 14t and have a 24t now, w/ out looking at the manual i'm not sure how it all goes together there but i believe in that hole you're talking about is the shear pin that holds the auger in place. on ours it was bolted on instead of the shear pin. which would work as long as you're careful and don't try to bale any large sticks/logs, or other big junk. def. get your hands on a manual though its a life saver esp if you have no experience working on a baler.

Yep that is in fact a shear pin sort of thing. Been years since I have looked at the 14T I have and sorry I'll not go wade through the weeds to look at it but you should be able to get that shear pin from JD
