We are looking to upgrade our current set of discs, they are 6' wide and are angle iron 3 pt. hitch type. Our tractor is a MF- 65. It currently does not have hydrolics installed but are in the process of installing. We are looking for the type that has transport wheels. What size disc do you think this tractor could pull. Thank you John

i pull an 8 footer behind my ford 4000 wich is roughly the same power your Mf-65 maybe a bit more and it can work it pretty hard some times so id say an 8 footer would be just right for your tractor

It will depend on type of soil, what you are discing and ballast on the tractor. In corn stubble you might get away with a 10' or larger if you have a well ballasted tractor, but for a plowed field 8' might be pushing it too hard.

A lot depends on the model you have, the one with 28" rear wheels or the one with 38" rear wheels. If the 38" wheels and duals that you should have it should handle a 10' in any soil and a 12' in most conditions. Now if you have the 28" wheels and no duals then tire wise the 8' would be a load in plowed ground.

I dont think you can find an 8footer with tranport wheels, only 10 footers and up had wheels. I looked for a few years and never found an 8 ft with wheels.

Lots of them out there and a lot of the wider ones can easyable be cut down to smaller, IHC is an easy one to narrow. My IHC and JD both were 7 blades on a side and the back gangs cut just 8' 8" wide, there were disks made with just 6 blades on a side as well.

I've owned a couple Deere 8'ers and still have a really nice IH (#350) wheel disc that measures something like 8'-3" over-all. Plenty of 8'ers around here.

8 foot disc isn't to hard to find look at tractor house they have several also craig's list or search tempest is a good way to find them my disc measures 9.5ft over all and the front cuts probably 8.5ft and it can really work my ford 4000 (45-50hp) especially in plowed ground but i get along with it ok.
