Disc Question for my Ford 2N.

Hi everyone,

I think I know the answer to this question already, but would like to confirm with the pro's on this board. I am looking to get a 3 point disc for my old 2N and found a very very good deal on one. But I think this particular unit is going to be too large. (I do have the front weights on my tractor as well.)

Specifications per the gentlemen selling it are:
"The disc has 16 individual discs that are 20 inches in diameter, it is 75 inches wide and 80 inches long and is a standard 3 point hook up. I don't know the weight, but guess it is at least 500 pounds, but could be 700 or 800."

And when the discs are reffered to as 5' or 6', are we speaking about length or width? Thanks for the help!!

Width, and...........the individual "discs" are traditionally referred to as blades/disk blades, at least in the Mid-South.

something dont add up...most 6' 3 point disc's have 4 gangs of 5 blades...if the frame is 75 inches wide it would be classed as a 6.5'.
we useta pull a 6.5' Dearborn with our 8N which has one more gear than your 2N...that 8 had a full plate in West Galveston Island sand with that disc...if it were me i'd keep looking for a 5 footer or a larger tractor...my '62 Ford 2000 pulls same disc like it wasnt there.

Sounds to me like the Ford should be up to the task of pulling that disk. Worse case, if you're getting a good deal on the disk, buy it, try it, and if it doesn't work for your needs, resell it and find one smaller.

Im kinda going in the direction of buy it and try it. It seems that some have had success with a similar setup. I know this is not going to work on any kind of hill setting, but with all the great advice I have recieved thus far, I will at least go out and take a look at it in person and make a decision. As always, thank you all for your continued input!

Iam pulling a 7 footer with my 2n. good old black iowa dirt. it works alot better then i though it would. But when i have the chance to buy a 5 or 6 footer ill but it. thanks Bob
