Big Bee brand 60 inch finish mower
Early 49 8N tractor.

I have went thru 5 belts in the last couple of weeks.
I put one on yesterday and mowed for about 30 minutes.
Then the belt broke. Another $25 gone.

The pulleys are all in great shape.
No play in the bearings.
The tensioner springs are ok.
Everything looks lined up correctly.
The belt is put on correctly.

What else could it be.

I'm getting Gates belts from O'Reilly's Auto Parts.
B108 - 111 inches.

Thanks.

you need a power rated belt...True Blue belts sold by Stens dealers have Kevlar cording and i sell them exclusively in my mower shop.
if you post the width i can give you a part number...the gates number doesnt show up in my cross reference.

I had a belt breaking problem and found a stamped steel pulley had separated on one side. The pulley was two stamped steel halves spot welded together. The spot welds came loose on one side. I drilled holes and bolted it back together.

NAPA's "Fractional Horse Power belts" have been my pick for years..

Cheaper, but out-last Dealer-sold belts about 6:1...

They have a newer offering..not sure what they call it, but it is completely encased in a kind of Fabric..supposed to be an even better belt..!!

FWIW..

I did some checking on the Stens belts.
This one seems about right: Stens 258-111
$23 on Amazon.com
I'll have to go measure it to make sure.

thats the right part#...i cross reffed it and found the Gates B108
price is right too...thats a buck cheaper than i can buy it and i'm a dealer.
hope this is all it is.

I ordered one. $23.22 with shipping.
I'm gonna go over everything again before I put the belt on.

Wish I could put roller chain on it or have direct drive.
